The incinerator has a principal furnace (2) that communicates with a unit for processing of fumes (6-10) by combustion in a post-combustion furnace. The ash is vitrified in a vitrification unit that is in communication with the post-combustion furnace. The vitrification plant has a zone where the ash is heated in a fusion vessel (15) that is heated by an electric furnace (17).
