The safety barrier has a horizontal bar (7) with two vertical bars (10,12) articulated to its ends. Parallel bars (13) have their ends articulated to the vertical bars. One vertical bar (12) is moulded and has a central hole (15) which forms a handle. The upper end (20a) of a lever (20) fits in the hole. The lower end of the lever carries a bolt which engages in a plate on the end of the horizontal bar to hold the barrier open. The horizontal bar has two transversal tubes (30) which engage in the ends of two tubular cross bars (6) of the bed frame. USE/ADVANTAGE - Retractable and removable safety barrier fitted to frame of hospital bed to prevent patients from falling out.
