The first (12) of the gripper's two jaws (12, 32) has a row of fastening points (22) arranged centrally in a straight line in succession on a common axis (X). The second jaw (32) has two diverging rows of fastening points (42) arranged in succession in a straight line. The directions (B) of the two diverging rows intersect on a common axis each including with same an angle beta = 90 - alpha . Each of the three rows has an associated gripper element (24, 44) which has an inner profiled section and an outer profiled section for centrally tensioning a workpiece (10) with a circular inner workpiece contour. All the gripper elements can be fixed selectively at corresponding fastening points of the three rows. ADVANTAGE - The workpieces can be tensioned internally and externally.
