The polishing machine has a rotating polishing head (12) driven by an electric motor (28). The head is fed with a metered supply of the water based cutting fluid. The operator holds the machine onto the surface and moves it to polish as required. The fluid feed rate is adjustable and surplus fluid is thrown out by centrifugal force. Excess fluid can be picked up by a surrounding flexible cowl linked to a suction line. The rotating head can be a foam pad preferably conical in shape and set into a conical recess to form a cylindrical disc. The joining conical surface is formed by a waterproof adhesive layer. The polishing head is cleaned by holding it over a rotating brush and with water feed. USE/ADVANTAGE - Cleaning paintwork of vehicles prior to waxing. Minimum of manual effort to prepare paint surfaces, adjustable polishing effect.
