An electric cable for use in a cavity, especially a hollow chassis member of a car, is designed for avoiding noise caused by intermittent contact between cable and cavity. The cable is pre-tensioned into a corrugated shape in at least two planes (ie, it has a sinusoidal contour). To generate this shape, a steel wire is bent into a meander (zig-zag) shape and this is contained within the insulated outer wrapping along with the separate conductors of the cable. The peak-to-peak size of the meander must naturally be that of the cavity diameter or width. ADVANTAGE- Avoids intermittent contact noise between cable and cavity without impairing ease of assembly.
