Disclosed herein is a coated metal body having a metal base or a metal base having an undercoat of an inorganic and/or organic material and at least one coating layer formed on the metal base or the undercoat to a thickness of 5-1,000 mu m with a poly(arylene thioether-ketone) resin coating material. The resin coating material is formed of 100 parts by weight of a poly(arylene thioether-ketone), 0-400 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin and/or thermosetting resin compatible with the poly(arylene thioether-ketone) and 0-150 parts by weight, per 100 pars by weight of the sum of the resin components, of at least one filler selected from fibrous fillers, inorganic fillers and metallic fillers. The poly(arylene thioether-ketone) contains predominant recurring units of the formula wherein the -CO- and -S- are in the para position to each other, and has a melting point, Tm of 310-380 DEG C, a melt crystallization temperature, Tmc (420 DEG C/10 min) of at least 210 DEG C, a residual melt crystallization enthalpy, DELTA Hmc (420 DEG C/10 min) of at least 10 J/g, and a reduced viscosity of 0.2-2 d l /g as determined by viscosity measurement at 25 DEG C and a polymer concentration of 0.5 g/d l in 98 percent by weight sulfuric acid.
