To separate unwanted pieces of veneer, loose matches &c. from matchboxes 2 being transferred from an endless conveyer 1 to an endless conveyer band 5, a space 13 between a fixed rail 12 which extends along the lower edge of the band 5 permits the unwanted material to slide off the band 5. The conveyer 1 comprises rods 3 attached to endless chains (not shown), and a shutter 4 is displaceable to close the aperture through which the boxes pass from the upper conveyer to the lower conveyer. Rollers 6 of the latter conveyer have recesses 10 to receive bars 9 secured to the band 5 by screws which also secure bars 8 for engaging the boxes. The boxes slide down a fixed bar 11 on to the lower conveyer. |
