摘要 Prodn. of a sintered electrode having fine and coarse porosity and made of iron powder granules of particle size at most 500 microns, obtd. from iron (III) oxide powder of grain size up to 10 microns, comprises pressing the granules to an electrode body and then sintering at up to 750 deg. C. in a reducing atmosphere. The novelty is that the iron powder granules, obtd. from the iron powder agglomerate formed on reacting iron oxide powder at 600-800 deg. C., opt. after crushing the agglomerate, are mixed with an organic pore former, whose amt. and grain size is dependent on the pore number and the size of the coarse porosity of the sintered electrode. The pore former, making up 2-10 wt. % of the total mixt., e.g. an organic polymer or wood fibres, has a grain size of 50-400 microns. ADVANTAGE - The electrode has good mechanical strength.
