The two clamping jaws (2, 4) are swivelable between an often and closed state. Their inner faces for gripping the surgical instrument are so shaped, as if a milling cutter machined the gripping faces swivelably in their closed state. The shape is given by the milling cutter swivelling about an axis in a plane orthogonal to the clamping jaw swivel axis in the region of the gripper. The milling cutter swivel motion lies between an acute and an obtuse angle w.r.t. the gripper long axis. USE/ADVANTAGE - Continuous angle changing facility between the instrument long axis and the gripper without increased force.
