The joint between components (1) and (5) made respectively of steel and aluminium sheet is produced by means of lap welding with the use of an additional element. This element is provided respectively with steel and aluminium layers in the regions facing respectively the steel and aluminium components to be joined. The joint is characterised by the fact that this additional element is integrated with the edge of the steel component (1), and that the steel component (1) is provided at least in the lap region (4) with an aluminium layer (3). USE/ADVANTAGE - For vehicle body construction. It simplifies the process of joining dissimilar materials in comparison with known alternatives.
