Vibration damping system in vehicle - has controlled vibration drive for active vibration damping through opposing phase

The system has a vibration sensor (7) in a programmed position and an actuator (3) to superimpose controlled vibrations onto a vehicle. A control system (8) takes sensor readings and drives the actuator to counter the vibrations with opposite phase vibrations. The reaction time of the controlled vibrations varies with the gear setting. For automatic transmissions the vibration reaction time is reduced during the gear positions, and is eased during gearchange movements. The controller becomes more responsive during change-down operations. A programmed set of control signals provides reaction times corresp. to different dynamic conditions for the vehicle.
