The assembly has a protective mantle (3) or an additional outer mantle (4) of glass wool blown at a high temp. range. The separate glass fibres (7-9) are mixed with a bonding agent of long chain starch (polysaccharides) and silicon resin to coat them. They are formed into a matted grid structure (10. The grid structure (10) is pref. composed of glass fibres (7-9) coated with starch and Si, with an outer cladding as a metal or plastics plate or mantle, and a similar plate or mantle is perforated at the side of the grid material (10) towards the contained hazardous material. The glass wool is coated with a binder of Si and starch at 7-10 wt.%, to be gathered and dried and hardend to about 150 deg.C. The binder contains 94-96% Si and 6-4% starch as a mixt.. The grid structure (10) of glass fibres (7-9) hasa vol. density of 20-80 Kg/m3 and pref. 45-55 Kg/m3, for a soft glass wool with fibres (7-9) of 1-6 micron dia.. The binder can also be a mixt. of latex or other components with silicon resin. USE/ADVANTAGE - The material of the assembly is for shrouding and safety protection of hazardous matter, such as chemicals, during carriage and storage, to prevent leakage into the environment. The material gives a long-term protective shrouding action.
