PURPOSE:To simplify the generation and registration of unknown words by registering an undecided character string as the reading of unknown words and then registering the character in a dictionary means together with the description of the unknown words that are converted and decided after a register mode is turned off. CONSTITUTION:An input key part 101 is provided together with an input buffer 102 which temporarily stores the input character strings, a conversion control part 104 which performs the conversion processing control and the input/output control, a KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese character) conversion processing part 105, an unknown word register processing part 106 which registers the generated unknown words, a user dictionary 107, and an output buffer 108 which stores the converted character strings. If the unknown word register mode is kept ON and the character string whose conversion is not decided yet is recognized as the reading of the unknown words, the results of conversion are stored in the buffer 108 and then treated as the description of the unknown words. Then, the register mode is turned off when the generation of the unknown words is complete. Thus, the character strings of the generated unknown words are registered into the dictionary 107 in a system together with the reading recognized previously. |
