Extreme pressure lubricants are obtained by adding to known lubricating oils (a) the methyl or ethyl ester of the pentachlorobutyric acid of formula CCl3-CHCl-CHCl-CO2H preferably in amounts of 0,2-3% by weight, and (b) either palmitic, stearic, or behenic acid or the methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, or isopropyl esters of these acids, preferably in amounts of 0,05-2% by weight. |
