PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for beta-lactam-based antibiotic substances. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I(R1 is lower alkyl or phenyl; X is optically active 8-arylmenthyl or bornansultam), e.g. N-{(E)-(2S,3S)-3- benzylamino-2-[(1'S)-t-butyldimethylsilyloxyethyl]-5-phenyl-4-pentonoy l}bornan-10,2 sultam, is obtained by reacting an alpha,beta,gamma,delta-unsaturated carboxylic acid derivative of formula II with a diamidocopper-lithium compound such as {C6H5CH2 N[Si(CH3)3]}2CuLi or {C6H5CH2N[Si(CH3)3]}2CU(CN)Li2 and then reacting the resultant compound with acetaldehyde. Thereby, the compound can be produced in good yield in one step by using the diamidocopper-lithium compound. |
