PURPOSE:To reinforce a casting part so as to prevent breakdown and to improve casting quality by converting the surface layer of the rugged parts for casting of the carbon graphite casting. mold having the rugged parts for casting characters, designs, symbols, etc., to silicon carbide or boron carbide. CONSTITUTION:The isotropic carbon material is worked in compliance with the shapes of the characters, designs, symbols, etc., is placed together with a compd. which generates gaseous silicon monoxide or gaseous boron oxide in the same graphite container so as not to come into contact with this compd. The gas generated by heating is introduced to the surface of the carbon graphite casting mold 1 and is diffused through the fine pores of the casting mold, by which the gas and the surface layer of the casting mold are converted and the converted layer 5 consisting of the silicon carbide or the boron carbide is provided. The high-quality casting cast with the intricate characters, designs, etc., is obtd. by casting with the carbon graphite casting mold 1 formed in such a manner. |
