PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound having excellent controlling effects on bakanae disease of rice plant, gray mold of cucumber, etc. CONSTITUTION:A derivative of formula I (X is H, halogen, etc.; Y is H, halogen, alkyl, etc.; R is alkyl, benzyl, etc. ; (n) is 1 or 2) such as 5-chloro-3- ethylsulfonylthiazolo[5,4-d]pyrimidine. The compound of formula I, for example, is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II produced from a pyrimidine derivative, etc., with an oxidizing agent such as hydrogen peroxide in the presence of an acid catalyst such as acetic acid in a solvent such as dichloromethane at -20 to the boiling point of the solvent. |
