<p>PURPOSE:To provide a carbon fiber bundle produced by applying a specific sizing agent to a carbon fiber, having improved adhesivity to especially a heat- resistant matrix resin, generating little fluffs, effective in improving the processability of a composite material composed of the matrix resin and exhibiting excellent physical properties. CONSTITUTION:A sizing agent solution is produced by adding a resin containing functional group such as amino group, epoxy group and allyl group and exhibiting liquid state at room temperature to a solution containing a thermoplastic resin having a glass transition temperature of >=150 deg.C, preferably a polyether imide, polyether sulfone, etc., containing flexible ether bond. A carbon fiber is immersed in the sizing agent solution and processed to obtain a carbon fiber bundle having improved adhesivity to a matrix resin having excellent heat-resistance such as bismaleimide resin and polyether ketone resin. A composite material composed of the carbon fiber and the matrix resin generates little fluffs in processing, exhibits processability excellent in twist hardness and has excellent physical properties required of a composite material such as tensile strength and elongation.</p> |
