PURPOSE:To obtain a bearing for linear motion which can realize good machining accuracy and reduce machining man-hours greatly by providing a no-load ball return groove which is partially opened for either of a slider proper or a ball groove piece and a ball return piece. CONSTITUTION:A slider proper 1 is provided with a load ball 7 groove 1a which is made of quenched steel and whose cross section is semi-circular and a no-load ball return groove 1b whose cross section is semi-circular. Ball return pieces 2, 3 are made of plastic injection moldings consisting of a pair of ball return groove lids 2d, 3d which are provided with mounting faces 2a, 3a on which ball inversion sections 2b, 3b whose cross section is semi-circular are provided and no-load ball return grooves 2c, 3c which are formed integrally with the mounting faces and whose cross section is semi-circular. A rail 5 is made of quenched steel and provided with a load ball rolling run groove 5a whose cross section is semi-circular. Consequently, as it is possible to provide as a groove, it becomes possible to machine the groove with good accuracy and reduce machining man-hour greatly.
