PURPOSE:To accurately detect the actual velocity and diameter distributions of bubbles or liquid drops in a gas-liquid two-phase flow. CONSTITUTION:In order to measure the velocity and diameter distributions of bubbles 6 in water flowing through a pipeline 5 to be measured, electric resistance two-probe type probe 3, measuring instrument 10, computing element 20, display 30, and input device 31 are constituted. A data processing section 22 calculates duration during which a bubble is in contact with the probe 3 and the time difference between the time at which the bubble comes into contact with the upstream side probe 1 and the time at which the bubble comes into contact with the downstream side probe 2 from the signals of the probes 1 and 2 and finds their frequency distribution. A Monte Carlo arithmetic section 23, on the other hand, finds another frequency distribution by assuming the velocity and diameter distributions of the bubbles and a comparing and calculating section 24 compares the two frequency distributions with each other and corrects the assumption until both distributions are considered to be sufficiently coincident with each other. Then a display 30 displays the velocity and diameter distributions of the bubbles obtained when the distributions are considered to sufficiently coincident. |
