[Also in Divisions A5 and E2] An applicator for use with a haemostatic clip having interconnected parallel arm portions of triangular cross-section comprises two members 11a, 11b pivotally interconnected intermediate their ends to provide jaw portions 13 on one side of the pivot 12 and handle portions 11 on the other, each jaw portion having a V-shaped groove dimensioned to receive and hold the parallel arm portions of a clip, the V-shaped grooves terminating short of the ends of the jaw portions. A leaf spring 15 may be provided between the handle portions having one end 15a fastened at 16 and the other end slidably affixed by means of a slot to hook 17 so as to limit the relative movement of the jaw portions with respect to each other. A pin 37 secured to one of the members 11a, 11b may engage in a hole 38 in the other elongate member, both pin and hole being dimensioned so as to limit the separation of the handle portions to that separation to which the handle portions are limited by the hook-and-slot arrangement. In a modification, more than one V-groove may be provided on each jaw so that more than one clip may be held in side-by-side relationship.
