A mounting nut for a retractable stick adhesive has an axis, an axial, threaded bore for a threaded spindle and an annular recess receiving an end of the stick adhesive. The radially inner and outer walls are provided with a thread and annular retaining ribs respectively which provides for a more reliable and secure retaining of the stick adhesive in the nut. This substantially prevents the stick adhesive clinging to the housing and disconnecting from the nut.
