The implantable stimulation unit delivers stimulation energy at a determined region of the body. It contains an electrode (13) and a medicament distributor. The distributor contains a blood soluble medicament, and delivers the medicament near to the electrode. The stimulation unit has a medicament distribution retarder (29,33), which can alter the distribution of medicament near the electrode, until the electrode is positioned at the correct region to stimulate, thus avoiding contact with the blood. USE/ADVANTAGE - Cardiac pacemaker. Improves conditions for supplying medicament at implantation position of electrode.
