A lateral X-ray image is taken of the skull, and a series of dimensions are measured on the X-ray photograph between a series of predetermined points (P1-P16). Lines (D1-D5) are drawn between selected points, and a number of angles between given points and sizes of the segments defined by the lines are compared with each other. The angles and ratios so defined are used in predetermined comparisons, such that if the image satisfies a first set of given comparative criteria, the skull is classified as being of a first morphological type, and if the image satisfies a second set of criteria it is classified as being of a second type. USE/ADVANTAGE - Consistent measuring system, for plotting jaw alignment deficiencies and/or anthropological classification.
