Watertight pavement disconnecting box for underground service cable - has cylindrical body, with inner, sealed, and outer, load-bearing, covers, fused links and sealable cable entries

The cylindrical extruded plastic body (1), installed vertically along an axis (X-X'), has opposed horizontal bottom ports (2), admitting the cable ends (3,4) within watertight heat-shrunk sleeves (15,15a). The cable cores terminate, through sealing udders (21,21a), on either end of the fuse-links (5). The latter's hinged fuse-carriers (20), raised to open the circuit, are segregated by a central vertical barrier. At the top, a fitted cast iron, steel or GRP ferrule (9) is closed by a strong lid (10), flush with the pavement or other ground surface. Below this, an access cover (11) is bolted down on a peripheral inner flange (16), over a watertight seal (17). Drainage holes (18) are provided above this level. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for street-lighting cables. Body can be shortened to suit various depths. Well sealed, readily accessible and easily installed.
