A device for detecting the amount of metallic powder for a hydraulic circuit for supplying discharged pressure oil of a hydraulic pump driven by means of an engine to a hydraulic apparatus, said device comprising a metallic powder amount detecting sensor (9) provided along the length of a flowing path of said pressure oil for outputting a signal in proportion to the amount of metallic powder adhering thereto, and a controller (11) for calculating and displaying the amount of metallic powder from the output signal from said metallic powder amount detecting sensor.
