The present invention relates to calcium supplements which employ calcium salts, citric acid and malic acid to form a soluble bioavailable source of calcium. The compositions provide an effervescent effect. The compositions comprise a primary calcium source, calcium carbonate; up to 30 % of a secondary calcium source; citric acid and malic acid wherein the percentage of citric acid to total acid is at least 23 % and not more than 75 % and the weight ratio of acid equivalents to base equivalents is from about 0.8 to about 1.8. |
