<p>A system for a gauge well pipe (46) in a liquid storage tank (44) with a floating roof (45) including a floatable container (20) located inside the pipe (46) and having a flexible laterally or radially serrated flange (54 or 54') extending outward from container (20) and in contact with the inside of pipe (46) to prevent vapor from the liquid stock from rising in pipe (46). Tape (25) is attached at its lower end to a weight (22) in pipe (46) below container (20) and its upper end is connected to a winch (49) outwardly of the upper end of pipe (46). A vertical passageway (27) through container (20) is provided for tape (25) to pass freely therethrough and container (20) is freely slidable on tape (25). Container (20) includes a closed opening (31) which is selectively opened to fill with the liquid stock at any selected level in tank (44). Container (20) also supports a thermometer (39) and a D-ring member (53) to extract container (20) from pipe (46) when tape (25) is inadvertently broken.</p> |
