<p>The present invention relates to a new variety of retroviruses distinct from HIV-1 and HIV-2, designated HIV-LP. The isolation, characterization and cloning of a prototype HIV-LP is described. The invention also relates to nucleotide sequences derived from the HIV-LP family, viral proteins and antigens and antibodies specific for HIV-LP which can be used for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes.</p> |
