<p>The invention provides a process for modifying a particulate solid comprising a water soluble inorganic salt, the salt being selected from the group consisting of halides, nitrates, phosphates and sulfates, so as to decrease the rate of dissolution of the salt in aqueous solution, the process comprising contacting the salt with at least reagent which reacts with one or more ions of the salt to form a reaction product which coats the salt, the reaction product containing at least one ion of the water soluble inorganic salt as a component thereof and having a water solubility not more than half that of the original uncoated water soluble inorganic salt.</p> |
