<p>An input paper cassette (10) for a document printer (36) and having a top cover (16) thereon from which one or more thin, flexible spring steel fingers (12, 14) extend downwardly at a predetermined angle (30) with respect to the major surface of sheets (44) being fed out of the cassette (10) and into the print area of a document printer (36). These thin, flexible fingers (12, 14) create a slight drag or reverse force vector on the sheets of paper within the stack to thereby allow only the top sheet (44) of paper on the stack to be operatively driven by a pick roller (68) out of the cassette (10), one at a time, and into the print area of the printer. In this manner, paper jams of the prior art are avoided, particularly in prior art printers of the type utilizing paper feed rollers and paper separation rollers in operative combination to define the paper path between the input paper cassette and the printer housing. <IMAGE></p> |
