The connector (2) has a through passage hole (7,8,9) which is conical and receives a clamp socket (10) through which the rope strand (3) is guided and forms an outer cone matching that (8) of the through hole. A tensioner (13) is provided, by which the clamp socket (10) is loadable in the conical through hole (8) against its end which is smaller in diameter. The tensioner is a hollow screw (13) coaxial to the clamp socket, and is inserted in a tapped hole of the connector (1) and through which the rope strand runs. A release component (14) enables the clamp socket to be displaceable in the conical through hole against the hole end which is larger in diameter. ADVANTAGE - Enables the effective rope length to be alterable. It is lighter and costs less than a chain harness.
