Automatic machine for dismantling tape cassettes - feeds cassettes to counter rotating spiked rollers which open then separates casings tapes and internal parts, and collects all fractions

Equipment for dismantling cassettes automatically has devices to feed in the cassettes, others to separate the cassette casings and interiors; and others again to collect the separated parts. A conveyor belt (10) feeds the cassettes (14) to the machine which has two counter-rotating spiked rollers (1) whose point (11, 12) do not acutally meet as they turn. The points (11, 12) pass through the casing s(15, 16) and tear them, so that the tape (17) inside and the internal parts (18) drop out. Plates (8) move the casings (15, 16) away fromthe rollers so that they (15, 16) drop on to chutes (9) and fall into containers (4). The tapes (17) and internal parts (18) fall onto a vibrating screen (3) aand the latter (18) pass through into the container (7) below. The tapes (17) are moved to rollers (2), where they are separated from parts (15, 16) of the casing (if present) and are drawn off (6) to a container (5). ADVANTAGE - The equipment dispenses with the time-consuming and therfore expansive manual process of opening the cassettes (which has been the method hitherto).
