The appts has an optical system (19, 21) for observing an image of the front part of the eye and the observation system includes an alignment fixing marker. Another system (13, 14) photographs the front part of the eye (11) of the person being tested. An image storing unit memorises the image of the front part of the eye taken by the photographic system. An alignment deviation detection unit determines the alignment displacement. The stored image signals are processed to determine a designated or determined part, to determine a displacement distance of this part compared to a reference position. Another unit corrects an analysing position, with which the stored image of the front part of the eye is analysed, on the basis of the determined displacement. A further unit analyses the image of the front part of the eye. USE/ADVANTAGE - Can be used in conjunction with ultrasound or laser scanner. Gives high reproduction of images or exactly reproducible taking of images.
