A compsn. for the permanent shaping of human hair contains (a) 5-25 wt.% of mercaptoethane sulphonic acid and/or an alkali or NH4 salt, as sole or main active waving agent, and (b) 0.5-10% of benzyl alcohol and/or benzyloxyethanol. ADVANTAGE - The compsn. has better waving effect, with low sensitisation of the skin and low toxicity.
