A drive or propulsion charge especially for a weapon having a drive charge loading (16) which can be set off by a first strengthening igniting charge (42), in which case explosion the energy is supplied directly fron an outer pyrotectric source. Alternatively the explosion energy can be supplied by electromagnetic radiation energy which trippers a second strengthening igniting charge (46), which is arranged closely around the first igniting charge (42). ADVANTAGE - The advantage of the claimed propulsion charge is that it may be triggered by pyrotectic or electromagnetic means. Previous propulsion charges have been ignitable only by one or other means.
