An apparatus for making a nonwoven web comprises a toothed opening roller (1) adapted to be driven at such a speed that the fibers of the lap opened thereby are thrown off under centrifugal force, a revolving air-permeable collecting surface (5) which has fiber-receiving portion (6) and a suction box (7), on the side from roller (1). A guide roller (8), which is driven to rotate in a sense that is opposite to that of roller (1), is provided at a vertical distance from portion (6) and in a peripheral region which faces roller (1) has a deflecting surface for deflecting a part of the fibers which fly from roller (1) whereas in a peripheral portion (9) which succeeds in the direction of rotation constitutes a suction zone (10), which faces portion (6) of surface (5), and guide means (13) for controlling in the direction of movement of surface (5) the air stream sucked through surface (5) are provided adjacent to box (7). <IMAGE> |
