Hydraulic gearshift control for motor vehicle - has two separate slave cylinders to operate gear selector and one clutch slave cylinder

The gearshift control has a hydraulic circuit controlled by a set of solenoid valves. One linear drive slave cylinder (20) moves the gearshift into the gear positions each side of neutral and a second slave cylinder (30) rotates the gear selector shaft (37) to move across the gate. A clutch slave cylinder (50) can be included in the system. The hydraulic fluid is derived from a pumped supply (7), with a return feed to a pump. Sensors monitor the pressures in different parts of the systems. The tilt action slave cylinder has two pistons of different areas linked by a rigid rod. The control is via an electronic control which de-skills the whole gear selection process. ADVANTAGE - Fast response gear change, min. of skill required, compact control system.
