The lift-off brake has the triangular shaped coil (4) wound with curved corners and located inside a shaped housing of magnetic material. The outer shape of the recess fits the coil and forms one pole while the inner shape is round (8) to fit around the axle (7). This provides triangular spaces to locate the operating coil springs (1). The three springs provide an even braking force for the system. The outer rim of the housing has a circular outer flange (6) with mounting holes in the widened sections to bolt the housing to the fixed mounting.
