The subject of the present invention is a process for the oxidation of aromatic compounds which carry an oxidisable alkyl group. More precisely, the invention relates to a process for the oxidation of aromatic compounds which carry an oxidisable alkyl group and a hydroxyl and/or alkoxy group, characterised in that it consists in carrying out the oxidation reaction, in water or in a mixture comprising water and an organic solvent, in the presence of a solid catalyst consisting of an active phase deposited on a support comprising palladium optionally combined with another metal element chosen from tin, germanium, tellurium and copper. More particularly, the invention relates to a process for the oxidation of cresols to the corresponding hydroxybenzaldehydes.
|
