The head comprises a thin film resistance layer of a material of Cr-Si-SiO and a Ta-Si-SiO alloy. The layer comprises a treating region to produce a contact with the recording medium. The resistance layer is supplied with energy pulsed electrical current and the heating region is heated to warm the recording medium and produce and usage. The head also comprises a conductor layer on the resistance layer and comprises Ni, Cr, Mo, W or Ta, and a substrate for the resistance layer made of a material having a linear heat expansion coefft. at 20-300 deg. C of less than 5x10 power-6 per deg. C.. The resistance layer pref. has a thickness of 500-1000 Angstroms. The conductor layer comprises a 1st conductor leaving the heating region, and a 2nd conductor, on the 1st to conductor, the pulsed electrical current to the thin film resistance layer. The 2nd conductor is pref. 500-2000 Anstroms thick and comprises Ni, Mo, W, Ta or Al. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for thermal display of images on a heat-sensitive recording medium. No protective layers are used on the heat resistors in the recording head.
