The device includes the detector plaque (3) carried on a rod (4) which is spring loaded (14) to sense the location of the movable member whose position is to be controlled. The rod has a finger (5) which touches electrical contacts (6, 7) at the top and bottom of its vertical travel.The electrical contacts (6, 7) send a signal (8, 9) to a relay (11) which controls the direction of rotation of a motor (12). In operation the mechanism is initially adjusted such that the finger (5) is midway between the contacts (6, 7). Movement of the controlled member is then automatically reinforced by the motor.
