The dust collector comprises a dust collecting chamber (2) situated in the upper space of a tunnel (1) with a ceiling board (5). Also provided are electric dust collectors (3) arranged in the dust collecting chamber, an air sucking inlet (9) in the ceiling board near the air sucking end (3a), and air blowers (4) in the dust collecting chamber at the air supplying end (3b). Contaminated air is drawn into a dust collecting chamber through an air sucking inlet which has an upstream wall and a downstream wall whose upper and lower edges are rounded continuously with two different radii in such a way that the first and second walls are inclined in the direction of the air stream. The air is sucked into the dust collecting chamber upwardly along the upstream and downstream walls, this allows the air to go along the ceiling board forming no contraction flow.
