Two=stage vertical dust filter - has collector for solids detached from sec. filter stage

In a two-stage filter for sepn. of solids from gas, a collector (21) is located between the prim. and sec. filter stages (8, 9) for catching solids detached from the sec. stage (9). Also described are (i) a collector in the form of a retro-fitted element for the filter and (ii) use of the collector in a filter with vertical and/or superposed filter stages. Collector (21) is pref. located directly below the sec. stage (9) and consists of a horizontal collector plate below the or each filter element (28) of the sec. stage. Collector has assages (22) for gas passage (21) from the prim. to the sec. stage and the sec. stage filter elements (28) are located above and to the side of the passage(s). Automtically operated flap (33) or lid can close the or each passage (22). USE/ADVANTAGE - For filtering dust (e.g. flour, cement, sand and industrial dusts) from air, the sec. stage being used as a safety stage (when the prim. filter is damaged or its being replaced), a fine filter stage or a micro-filter stage. Collector prevents dust, detached from the sec. stage, from passing into the clean space beyond the prim. stage.
