Remedial shoe with back opening for heel - having sole higher at back than front and shortened under heel, and back having hole to accommodate heel of foot

The shoe has an upper (1) covering the ankles, and sides fastened by strips of hooked pile fasteners (9, 10). A tongue (11) has strips of hooked pile fasteners (13) which fasten it to the body of the shoe. A gap (15) in the back of the shoe leaves the wearer's heel uncovered. The sole (3) is higher at the back than at the front and its back end (16) ends before the heel. The gap is all across the width of the heel and extends above the end of the sole. A removable protective pocket can be fixed over the gap. USE/ADVANTAGE - Shoe for use after foot surgery etc. which does not have any contact with the heel of the wearer's foot.
