Process and means for the production of hydrogen peroxide from hydrogen and oxygen

The invention relates to a process and means for the production of hydrogen peroxide directly from hydrogen and oxygen using a compressed pipe reactor for establishing a reaction zone for the reaction of these gases within an acid aqueous solution. The reaction zone is completely full with the solution and forms a reaction mixture dispersing gaseous hydrogen and gaseous oxygen in the solution in greater proportions than the lower flammability limit under controlled conditions which result in the formation of hydrogen peroxide. This reaction mixture is maintained until the proportion of hydrogen falls to a value less than the lower flammability limit for the gas mixture. The hydrogen peroxide is then removed from the reaction zone. Reaction between the hydrogen and oxygen in solution is performed under slug flow conditions.
