A friction pivot joint between an injection moulded plastics frame plate or sash plate (1) of a window stay, and an arm (2) of the window stay, has an integral plastics annular shoulder (3) projecting from the plastics frame plate or sash plate (1). There is an aperture (4) in the arm (2) whereby the arm (2) is located over the platic shoulder (3). The plastics shoulder (3) projects through the arm (2). The exterior of the annular plastics shoulder (3) forms a bearing surface for the arm (2). A fastener (6) fixes the joint and is preferably threaded into the plastic material of the interior of the plastic shoulder (3). Plastic material integral with the annular shoulder (3) extends from the top of the shoulder over the arm (2) to prevent direct contact between the head of the fastener (6) and the arm (2). |
