METHOD FOR APPLICATION OF TITANIUM NITRIDE COATING ON TITANIUM PARTS

The method is used in mechanical engineering and in medicine. It improves resistance the wear, corrosion resistance and the decorative effect of titanium articles, the titanium nitrade coating on the titanium products being made without any degradation of the titanium padding or any change of its phase composition during the process. The method includes heat treatment of the titanium articles in nitrogen gas medium at atmospheric or lower pressure. The heat treatment temperature does not exceed 880°C, particularly from 400 to 870°C. Optimum effect is achieved at rate of heating and cooling the titanium products being between 1 and 6°C/minute.
