The composition of the emery cloth for dry polishing contains, as basic component, abrasive material being ashes or slag from thermoelectric power station, metallurgical or other manufactures, glue or other adhesive as a binding substance, and paper, textile material or combination of both as a base. According to the method, the ashes or slag are ground, fractioned by screening or gravitational settlement and by means of the adhesive are uniformly fixed on the base. After drying the emery cloth is ready for use.
