SPECTRALLY SENSITIZED SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC EMULSION

PURPOSE:To increase spectrally sensitizing effect, remove fog and provide higher contrast by adding monocyclic triazole or tetrazole compound to the surfaces of tetradecahedral particles-base silver halide particles with merocyanine dye adsorbed. CONSTITUTION:One or more kinds of merocyanine dyes are allowed to be adsorbed on the surfaces of silver halide particles mainly containing tetradecahedral particles having Miller indices (100) face and (111) face. To the particles with the dyes adsorbed are added one or more kinds of compounds selected from monocyclic triazole and tetrazole compounds in an amt. of about 10<-5>-10<-2>mol per mol of silver halide. The resulting particles are then subjected to sulfur sensitization and gold sensitization, and after adding a hardening agent, a surfactant, etc. they are coated onto a base. By this silver halide photographic emulsion spectrally sensitizing action is increased remarkably.
